Reliance Group chairman Anil Ambani on Wednesday took up Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Clean India' initiative and swept the street at Mumbai's Church Gate station to mark his participation.
Accepting Prime Minister Modi's challenge, Ambani along with other people swept a street and urged nine other people to take up the drive.
"It's my privilege and honour to be part of the Prime Minister's call to the nation on the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. Narendrabhai Modi, our respected Prime Minister, had made an announcement a week ago to name nine different people across India to participate in this Clean India mission and I am happy that I have participated this morning at the iconic Church Gate station in Mumbai," said Ambani.
Ambani has named Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, actor Hrithik Roshan, Telugu star Nagarjuna, columnist and author Shobhaa De, media personality Shekhar Gupta, lyricist Prasoon Joshi, woman boxer Mary Kom and tennis star Sania Mirza to take the cleanliness drive.
The business tycoon has also invited Runners' clubs across the country to participate in the drive.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had kicked-off his 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan' on October 2, the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
