Newly-appointed India head coach Anil Kumble on Monday insisted that he will be the 'last person to curb' Test skipper Virat Kohli's aggression but advised players that there exists a 'thin line' which needs to be respected by everyone.
"I love Kohli's aggression. I was also an aggressive player. I'm not someone who will look to curb his natural instincts. But of course, we all know how important it is to be the ambassadors of India and to be a part of the Indian cricket team. We will ensure that there is a thin line," Kumble said while addressing a pre-departure press conference ahead of West Indies tour.
The legendary leg-spinner also admitted that forthcoming tour of West Indies will be tricky series, adding that they will try out 'various combinations' during practice games in order to determine the ideal playing XI.
"The expectations to win in West Indies will always be there. West Indies are a tough side even at home they know the conditions. They are in a transition phase and there will be some young West Indian player playing in the Test cricket. We are expected to win but the conditions are pretty similar to what we get here at home," said Kumble.
"We still have about two weeks before the first test. We have got a couple of practice games. We will try out various combinations and give everybody an opportunity to have a knock in those two matches and then decide what is the ideal combination to go leading into the first test," he added.
India will play first of the four-match Test series on July 21 in Antigua.
