Veteran anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare on Wednesday said that he supports the thoughts and ideas of Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee, and ruled out extending his support to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal.
"I will neither support Narendra Modi nor Arvind Kejriwal, nor oppose them. I'll continue my work," Anna told media here today.
On his support to Mamata, Anna said, "I have not supported her party, but instead I am supporting her views and opinions on society. For the first time, there is a politician like her, and that's why, I am supporting her."
"She could have had a comfortable life as the CM, but she stays in a small house and doesn't even have a car. Today, many CM's are leading comfortable lives. I have always placed country before self. In Mamata Banerjee, I found another person who thinks like me," he added.
Anna said that Mamata is the only chief minister who has responded to his letter, where I had outlined 17 issues of national importance.
"I had written this letter four month ago. She even said that many of these issues have been taken care of in Bengal," he added.
Responding to a query on Kejriwal, Anna said, "I had sent my 17 points to Arvind Kejriwal as well, but he never responded. So, there is no question of supporting him.
