Another 1,767 pilgrims leave for Amarnath Yatra from Jammu

1,767 pilgrims today left the Jammu base camp for Amarnath Yatra to pay obeisance at the cave shrine in South Kashmir.

According to reports, the latest batch, comprising 1,266 men, 346 women, 150 sages and others left in a cavalcade of 57 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp early in the morning.

More than 71,000 people have paid obeisance at the cave shrine in Kashmir Himalayas till last night.

With today's batch, 11,772 pilgrims have left from the Jammu base camp for the pilgrimage.

The fifth batch of Amarnath pilgrims left for the holy cave shrine situated in the south of Himalayas from Jammu earlier on July 5.

The pilgrimage from Jammu base camp is going on smoothly since July 1 and batches are leaving for the valley everyday regularly.

The authorities have made elaborate arrangements for boarding and lodging of yatris in Jammu and other parts of the state.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had earlier this month conducted mock exercises at Baltal and Pahalgam base camps to assess the preparedness and response mechanism of all those involved in management of the Yatra.
