At least four people were killed and dozens other were injured in an explosion in Bannu in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The bomb exploded near the rally of Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (F)'s Akram Khan Durrani, who is contesting election against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

Durrani escaped the attack unhurt, Geo News quoted Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bannu Karim Khan, as saying.

The RPO also told Geo News that the explosion went off 50-metres away from Durrani's rally, where he was canvassing for the July 25 general elections.

Durrani, who also served as the Chief Minister of strife-torn KP, is contesting election against cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan from NA-35 (Bannu) constituency on Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal ticket.

KP has remained as one of the most neglected regions of Pakistan. The Army, experts believe, is least concerned about the deteriorating security situation in the region, and would support Imran Khan against Nawaz Sharif's PML-N in the upcoming elections.
