The family of troubled football legend Paul Gascoigne had reportedly pleaded with him to give up alcohol for good.
According to the Mirror, Gascoigne, who was drunk, dirty and in tears, had a bottle of gin in each pocket of his shorts as he staggered into a courtyard of a London hotel begging passers-by to call his former wife Sheryl, before collapsing and falling unconscious.
The report further said that this incident follows Gascoigne's arrest for alleged assaults on his ex-wife and a rail station guard.
However, Gascoigne's family anxiously pleaded with him to give up his booze addiction, with his nephew Jay Kerrigan saying that he and his mother, Gascoigne's sister Anna Marie, got to know about his latest collapse due to alcoholism from news reports.
Stating that he is aware that his uncle will come and see them when he is well again, Kerrigan however, said that he hoped that Gascoigne had got over his addiction after his time in an US rehabilitation centre, adding that he must have suffered a relapse and taken up drinking again.
Hoping that his uncle got well again and kicked his habit for good this time, Kerrigan, however, said that it is up to Gascoigne to beat his addiction, although he added that Gascoigne has to surround himself with good people to help get rid of his addiction

According to Kerrigan, his grandparents, Gascoigne's parents, are against alcohol and have made their views clear about the life that Gascoigne led with his addiction, although he added that they all support the former England star and wants to see him settle down and have a normal family life.
Kerrigan further said that he last saw Gascoigne in May while he was filming a television documentary with model Katie Price, adding that the football star looked physically fine then and had mentioned that he had to go to hospital for a hip operation.
Kerrigan also revealed that during Gascoigne's latest rehab stint in Arizona, he regularly went jogging with staff.
However, England cricketer Ronnie Irani, who helped raise 100,000 pounds for Gascoigne's five-week rehab earlier this year, feared that there is now a real danger that the former Tottenham Hotspur player could kill himself with booze, although he added that his friends have not given up on him.
