The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said that any attempt to form a government in the Jammu and Kashmir without its inclusion will be a travesty of the mandate given by the people of the state.

"The situation in Jammu and Kashmir is still fluid. The BJP has won the maximum number of popular votes and any attempts to form a government without the participation of BJP in it will be a travesty of the mandate given by the people of Jammu and Kashmir and will be a betrayal of the mandate," BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao told ANI.

He further said that BJP is keen to form the government and fulfill its promise of development.

"The BJP would certainly want to form the government and fulfill the promises of the development that we have made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir," he added.

The Jammu and Kashmir election results threw a fractured mandate for the 87-member state assembly with the PDP securing 28 seats, BJP 25 seats, the NC could retain just 15 seats while the Congress got 12 seats.
