Barcelona star Lionel Messi earned his 100th cap for Argentina as the La Albicelestes defeated Jamaica 1-0 to reach the top of their group table in the Copa America.
Striker Gonzalo Higuain scored the goal in the 11th minute of the match for the title favourites, which had already secured a berth in the quarterfinals of the South American tournament, the BBC reported.
Jamaica did not show any promise in the game as Messi's side completely dominated the game.
Argentina has been trying to end a 22-year title drought, a significant period in which dates back to their 1993 Copa America title in Ecuador, when Messi was only six years old.
