Several youth from Assam's Chandel District took their first physical efficiency test (PET) and physical standard test (PST) at a special recruitment rally for the position of constables in the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the Assam Rifles here recently.

The commander of the 26 Sector Assam Rifles, Brigadier Rajiv Mankotia said: "Actually the population of Manipur is most fit for the security forces of the country, and now, over period of time there is a lot of enthusiasm among the young boys because they are physically fit. They are excellent sportsmen. So, I think by joining the armed forces, they will contribute a lot to the nation."
Candidates took their tests at 26 Sector Assam Rifles Complex at Pallel.
Some of the candidates were selected after a rigorous physical and health screening.
The basic aim was to select more of youth from the Northeast for the armed forces.

Recruiters provided relaxation in height and said they would give those selected pre-recruitment training to bring them on par with others.
"I think it's a great opportunity and good for us," said Johnson, a candidate.
The selected candidates will be put through a written examination on June 9.
