Chief of Army Staff General Bikram Singh presented 'Standard' to the 89 Armoured Regiment, on behalf of the President, at the Namkum Military Station here on Saturday.
This rare honour has been bestowed upon the 89 Armoured Regiment for the dedicated and meritorious service rendered by the Regiment since it's raising on February 1, 1980.
"It is a great honor when any unit receives Colours or Standard from the President. For this 89 Armoured Regiment, this is a very important day. A regiment receives this honour when it does extraordinary work," General Bikram Singh told media here today.
The event was witnessed by a host of civil and army dignitaries
The 89 Armoured Regiment has been working towards the welfare of soldiers, war widows of Jharkhand, and spreading awareness about the strength of the Indian Army among the people.
They have also organised welfare activities in remote areas of Jharkhand and provided aid to civil authorities.
