Army Chief presents President's standard to 67th Armoured Regiment

Army chief, General Bikram Singh honoured the frontline 67th Armoured Regiment for its meritorious service for four decades since its inception on September 15, 1967.

The colourful ceremony took place in Bikaner which saw the participation from the 67th armoured regiment officials. The ceremony saw a guard of honour by army personnel along with a band performance.

On behalf of President Pranab Mukherjee, the Standard was presented by Singh at an impressive ceremony at the Army station in Rajasthan.

A mounted parade on tanks with clockwork precision, flawless co-ordination and a formation of roaring tanks escalating the President's 'Standard' enthralled the audience.

On the occasion to honour the regiment, former army official, Pritam Singh said that he has nurtured the regiment and every soldier of the regiment in initial years was recruited by him.

"For me the 67th armoured regiment is a baby. I created it. Every soldier in this regiment has been selected by me. Initial manpower of the regiment was very efficient," Singh said.

Commanded by Colonel B Ravi, a formation of roaring tanks took part in the parade on the occasion as Army Chief General Bikram Singh bestowed the rare and prestigious honour upon the regiment.

Reportedly, the 67th Armoured Regiment is the front line Regiment of the Indian Armoured Corps that has participated in numerous operations undertaken by the Army and has also contributed personnel for UN peace keeping operations.

The Chief of Army Staff released a 'Special Day Cover' in order to commemorate the event.
