Army starts operation to restore road connectivity in Poonch

The Indian Army has undertaken a massive day and night operation to restore the road connectivity in flood hit Kashmir.

One of the most important roads of the Poonch Defence was totally washed away by heavy rains and flood that hit the area on September 2. The five kilometer road also served as an important link for more than 30 thousand residents of the area.

There is no other structure of road at the Khanater and Dalera area of Poonch.

In between, there is one BSF battalion headquarter of 88 BSF which has been totally cut off from road link. The BSF battalion is totally cut off from ration and other supply since the last 11 days.

The nine villages of this border area, Khanater village, Dalera, Bainch, Kunian village, Mangnar, Jhalas, Salotri and LK village, where around thirty thousand people reside, are also cut off along with the important LoC sector of Poonch, Krishna Ghati.

A road construction operation on war footing has also been started to construct a new road from hill side by cutting hill rocks at Khanater Nallaha.
