Arsenal has recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory over Turkish side Fenerbahce to reach the Champions League for the 16th consecutive year.

According to BBC, the Turkish visitors trailed 3-0 after the first leg of the play-off and went further behind with Arsenal player Aaron Ramsey scoring twice in front of an under-capacity crowd at the Emirates Stadium.

The report further said that the win is Arsenal's third successive victory despite their opening-day defeat by Aston Villa, and will inject fresh confidence into their occasionally fragile side ahead of hosting north London rivals Tottenham on Sunday.

According to the report, the result also avoided a potentially awkward scenario where Fenerbahce could have progressed despite facing the prospect of a two-year European ban after being found guilty of match fixing.

Arsenal has twice suffered European defeats by three goals or more in the last 50 years, and the Turkish side has scored just three times in eight trips to England, the report added.
