Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shahnawaz Hussain on Monday said that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal spoke against BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi just to grab media attention and that if he did not use the latter's name media would never cover him.
"Arvind Kejriwal has to chant namo-namo to stay in news. If he doesn't say anything against Modi, media wouldn't cover him," said Hussain.
"No media is ready to take him seriously. He is pursuing a political career by commenting on Modi. Everyone has a right to contest elections from anywhere, but Arvind Kejriwal must know it is not Delhi he is planning to contest from but Varanasi; so it is not Sheila Dikshit but Narendra Modi that he would be contesting against," he said.
Kejriwal on Sunday said that he would contest against Modi from Varanasi in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections if the people wanted him to.
"I will also hold a rally in Varanasi, and if the people of Varanasi want me to contest, I will wholeheartedly accept it. I will contest against Modi from there," said Kejriwal, while addressing a rally in Bangalore.
"Why is Modi so scared of me? He sent 1000 policemen to stop me," he said.
He further said that the people of the country were fed up with the BJP and the Congress and wanted the AAP to come to power.
