AS Roma has set a new Serie A record with their ninth straight win from the start of the season after they beat Udinese 1-0 on Sunday.

According to CNN, their win was secured after playing with 10 men for much of the second half after Brazilian Maicon saw red for a second bookable offense.

Juventus held the previous record of eight straight wins in 1930-31 and 1985-86, the report said.

They also won nine straight at the start of the 2005-06 season but the Bianconeri were stripped of the title and the record due to the match fixing scandal, which engulfed Italian football, the report added.
