Asian Games: India wins historic gold beating world champs S. Korea in men's compound archery

The Indian archery team created history in sports as they defeated world champions South Korea in the men's compound archery team final at the Gyeyang Asiad Archery Field on Saturday.

India grabbed it's second gold in the 17th Asian Games with this win.

Earlier in the day, the Indian women's team of Trisha Deb, Purvasha Sudhir Shende and Jyothi Surekha won bronze medal in compound archery, a non-Olympic event that is making its debut at the Asian games.

Meanwhile, Chain Singh bagged a bronze in the Men's 50-metre Rifle 3 Positions event.

Moreover, the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee congratulated Pemba Tamang, Vijay Kumar and Gurpreet Singh for winning the Silver Medal in the Men's 25-metre centre fire pistol team event at the Asian Games 2014.

In individual messages, the President said that he is extremely delighted and proud that they have won the Silver Medal in the Men's 25-metre centre fire pistol team event at the Asian Games 2014. He added that they have proved that hard work would always bring laurels.

India has so far won two gold, three silver and 17 bronze medals in the ongoing Asian Games and are placed at the 11th position in the standings.
