Japanese athletic equipment company ASICS on Tuesday started its sales operations in India, with a view to bolster sales of its products in the country.
A subsidiary of the corporation, ASICS India Private Limited, had been established in April 2012, and primarily offered marketing support and promotional activities for local sales agents.
However, with this new move, the subsidiary will become a sales company as part of ASICS's top-priority strategy of expanding operations in emerging markets, as outlined in the company's corporate mid-term growth plan.
According to reports, ASICS will accelerate the expansion of its operations in India, aiming to bolster sales and marketing activities, with a view to raising its brand image.
Among the plans to increase its brand image, the company plans to further strengthen its running lineup and actively develop goods for sports like cricket, badminton and volleyball.
ASICS has been an official sponsor of the Mumbai Marathon since 2008, and reportedly plans to extend its support to other key sporting events.
