Assam's Health and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma offered to resign on Sunday, but said that he would remain in office till his resignation is accepted.
He said the ball was now in Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi's court.
Sarma said the 47 MLAs who have backed him, would go back to their constituencies with renewed vigour to work for the masses.
He also announced plans to launch several schemes for the good of the people.
It maybe recalled that Sarma had offered to resign on two previous occasions.
His threat to resign is indicative of the fact that dissidence within the Assam unit of the Congress Party and against incumbent Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is yet to dissipate. (ANI)
