The Assam Police on Monday attested a suspected militant from the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) group for his alleged involvement in the recent violence in the state.
Earlier on Saturday, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to take up the investigation of four cases registered by Assam police relating to the attacks.
The outfit is blamed for killing over 70 people in the two districts of Sonitpur and Kokrajhar in Assam on December 23.
The Assam Government had earlier recommended that the investigation of these cases may be handed over to the NIA.
