Australia and Malaysia have hinted that they intend to send forensic teams back to the MH17 crash site in eastern Ukraine to look for any undiscovered human remains at the accident zone.
According to News.com.au, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott and his counterpart Najib Razak on Saturday agreed to intensify their efforts to recover any human remains still at the crash site and return them to their loved ones.
The investigation was halted in August due to incessant fighting around the crash site.
Razak told reporters after a meeting with Abbott that the investigators would need at least a few weeks to search the crash zone for any remaining evidence.
He said that the teams were to be sent to the crash site as soon as possible, adding that they were keen to re-enter the crash site before the start of winters.
The Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, with nearly 300 people aboard, including 38 Australian citizens and residents, was shot down over eastern Ukraine in July.
