Australia recall Burns, Khawaja against Kiwis

Australia have recalled batsmen Joe Burns and Usman Khawaja in the squad for the first two Test of the three-match series against New Zealand, beginning from November 5.

Burns will open along with David Warner, while Khawaja will might bat at the number three position, Sport24 reported.

Rod Marsh, the chairman of selectors, speaking on their inclusion said that Usman is a great player of fast bowling and a fine technician, insisting the latter might make significant contribution to the side.

The series against New Zealand will be first full-fledged series under new skipper Steve Smith.

Meanwhile, Australia will be missing the services of veteran wicket-keeper Brad Haddin, opening batsman Chris Rogers and all-rounder Shane Watson in the upcoming series.

Australia will play the first Test against New Zealand at Brisbane.
