Avril Lavigne countered racist criticism she faced for her new Japan-themed song and music video, "Hello Kitty" by saying that she loves Japan.

The 'Complicated' singer tweeted "LOLOLOL," adding that she loves Japanese culture and she had spent half of her time in Japan and she flew to Tokyo to shoot this video specifically for her Japanese fans, with her Japanese label, Japanese choreographers and a Japanese director in Japan, the Washington Post reported.

The video features the 29-year-old singer dancing around in a tutu with a crew of grim-faced Japanese dancer and the lyrics go as, "Hello Kitty, you're so pretty/Hello kitty you're so silly".
