Welcoming the Supreme Court's observation on the Ayodhya matter, newly-elected Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that both sides must sit down and find a solution.

"The Supreme Court's verdict is worth welcoming. I feel the apex court has given a solid decision. We welcome it. Both parties should sit together and find a solution to the same. The government will extend all the support needed," Adityanath said.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani also welcomed the apex court's observations, saying that all should come to a consensus.

The apex court earlier today said the Ayodhya dispute was a sensitive and sentimental issue, adding its best that this matter was settled amicably.

The court was hearing a plea of BJP leader Subramanian Swamy today seeking urgent hearing of Ayodhya dispute in the apex court.

The court asked parties concerned to sit together to arrive at a consensus and asked Swamy to consult the parties and inform it about the decision on March 31.

The court also suggested if required, a principal mediator can be chosen by the court for settling the issue. Chief Justice J.S. Khehar said if the parties want him to mediate then he is ready for the task.
