Pakistani cricketer Azhar Ali has revealed that he has never really given any thought about the Test captaincy for the national squad although he has been mentioned as a possible successor to Misbah-ul-Haq.

Ali, who made his Test debut for Pakistan against Australia in July 2010 at Lords, said that Misbah has done an amazing job since taking over as Test captain in difficult circumstances and his effort and work should never be underestimated.

The right-handed batsman added that Misbah has been an inspiration to the likes of himself and other Pakistani cricketers and he has been a pillar of support for them all, Pak Passion reported.

Ali said that he has never really thought about the Test captaincy and it is not something that he would chase, adding that if people are mentioning his name as a possible future skipper then that is very kind of them.

Ali added that he is no different to any other cricketer who would say that it would be an honour to captain his country but at this moment in time he added that he is looking to reestablish himself as a Test cricketer and to break into the one day side rather than worry about or chase the captaincy.
