Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation on the golden jubilee of his "Mann Ki Baat" a day ahead of the Constitution Day, on Sunday said that the architect of Indian constitution Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar gave millions of Indians the right to dignified life.

Ahead of Dr Ambedkar's 'Mahaparinirvan Diwas' on December 6, PM Modi reiterated the words of Bharat Ratna, saying, "The democratic values are not imported to India from outside and we must defend our hard-fought freedom through the last drop of blood."

PM Modi said that the balance between the rights and duties in the life of citizens will take the country forward. "If we respect the rights of others, our rights will automatically be protected. Similarly, if we fulfill the duties enshrined in the Constitution, our rights will automatically be protected," said Narendra Modi. "Both rights and duties have been discussed at length in our constitution," he added.

"While remembering the Constituent Assembly we can never forget the contribution of the great person Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar who was at the centre of Constituent Assembly. December 6 will be his Mahaparinirvan Diwas. On behalf of all the countrymen, I pay homage to Baba Saheb who gave millions of Indians the right to dignified life."

"In just three years, great luminaries like Dr Ambedkar made such an elaborate and extensive Constitution. The extraordinary speed with which they completed the Constitution is an example of effective time management and productivity. It also inspires us to complete our allotted task in record time," he said.

He further said, "I still remember that in the year 2010 to mark the 60th anniversary of our republic in Gujarat we took out the 'Shobha Yatra' of our Constitution on an elephant. It was a memorable way to create awareness among the youths about the constitution."

"In 2020 we will be completing 70 years as a Republic and in 2022 we will be completing 75 years of our independence. Let us take forward the spirit of the Constitution and ensure peace, progress, and prosperity in the nation," added Prime Minister Modi.
