Australian cricketer George Bailey has said that he is relishing the chance to fill in the emptiness created by the exit of great players like Michael Hussey in the team, and is keen to score runs.

Meanwhile, Former Tasmania coach and Cricket Australia skills specialist Tim Coyle has said that George Bailey's selection in the Ashes team can eventually lead him to becoming captain of the national team.

According to News.com.au, having witnessed what the Tasmanian captaincy did for Bailey's game, Coyle has no doubt Australia's latest No.6 can flourish as a leader in the Test set-up.

Coyle said that the extra responsibility brings out the best in Bailey and he will be an outstanding character in the Australian team.

He added that if the situation arose, Bailey would slip into the captaincy role quite comfortably.

The batsman was recently ordained as Australia's 436th Test cricketer, but the 31-year-old could embark on a rapid rise from Test greenhorn to leader of men with a bumper Ashes campaign.
