Days after a 41-year-old Indian mother, Prabha Arun Kumar, was stabbed in Sydney, NSW Premier Mike Baird has reportedly assured the Indian community that every resource will be used to bring her killer to justice.
While expressing his horror and shock at the incident, Baird offered his thoughts and prayers to the victim's family. He assured the Indian community that NSW had a strong affinity for India and its people and added that the government will treat the investigation "with the highest possible priority," reported News.com.au.
Kumar was talking to her husband on her mobile phone as she walked home to Westmead from Parramatta railway station on Saturday night.
Her husband, who lives in India with their daughter, heard his wife come face-to-face with her attacker before being stabbed in the neck.
She was found on a footpath in Parramatta Park, about 300m from her home, and later died in hospital.
Her husband flew in from Bangalore to Australia on Monday, when he learnt of his wife's death.
