Formula One legend Michael Schumacher has inspired a Band Aid-style charity song to raise money for those who are disabled and the stricken racer's wife has backed the tune.

The paralyzed driving icon's wife Corinna has backed the tune, called Born to Fight, which would be released for Schumacher's 46th birthday on January 3. Corinna hailed it as an anthem of courage while writing to composer Sascha Herchenbach.

Corinna stated that this feels good, adding that she would like to send her heartfelt thanks for this news of such a nice present that helps her family at such a difficult time, The Daily Star reported.

Kind Corinna would also attend the launch of the song, which would be performed before Schumacher fans and stars of showbiz and driving, in a pub in her hubby's German hometown of Kerpen.

They would also watch two films of the Ferrari driver's life before 46 balloons are released in the stricken seven-time world champion's honour.

This comes one year after Schumacher suffered devastating injuries after slamming into a rock while skiing in the French Alps.

Herchenbach said that he wrote the song over three days, adding that he hopes it is an inspiration for disabled people everywhere and that it also inspires Schumacher.

He explained that the song contains lines like: 'You go through the darkest nigh to reach the light; It's your hardest fight as you walk alone. You are the one who's gonna fight.'

Schumacher spent months in hospital in an induced coma, and was eventually allowed to return to his mansion. Friends who have visited since say that the driving ace remains paralyzed and unable to speak.
