Bangalore Police Commissioner Raghavendra. H. Auradkar said here on Saturday that the police will bring the culprits involved in the recent rape of a six-year-old to justice in another day or two.

Citing problems faced by the police in the case, Auradkar said, "The accused have to be identified, we have to corroborate it. We are seeing the CCTV footages of 14 cameras and most of them are old type of cameras, they are not digital cameras. Many times the footage is not getting downloaded. Secondly, we have to get the corroborative evidence from many sources. Thirdly, there was lot of delay in actual incident happening and reporting. It happened on July 2 and the case was brought to police station on July 14 in spite of that we are making all the efforts."

"I assure all the people that give us another a day or two, because we want to bring the culprit to the book, the real culprit and also who cannot escape the clutches of the law. If we do it in a hurry, there is every chance that he may get the benefit therefore we are working on it," Auradkar added.

"All my senior officers are working round the clock in a shift basis. At least 40 people are on the job including the additional commissioners and joint commissioners and it is being done in a very professional manner and the memorandum submitted to me by the parents urges us that we should invoke the new act .i.e. the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) act 2012, that we have already invoked in the FIR itself. Along with IPC that act is also there, the case is registered that act and I am sure maybe within a day or two we will definitely arrest the accused person," said Auradkar.

Ridiculing the reports of the victim being traumatized and that she had to go through second round of medical test, Auradkar said that these are all rumors.

"The child is not being traumatized The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) woman police officer who is herself a doctor by qualification is handling the whole case and coordinating with the child and her mother. All the time both her parents are present. The lady ACP is very much sanitized about it and knows how to handle such cases. It is being done under the supervision of best psychiatrist, psychologist from the NIMHANS," said Auradkar.

He ended by saying that the police is investigating the case from all the angles and will not spare the school management if they are found guilty on grounds of negligence.
