The Bangladesh Cabinet on Monday approved a draft of the 'National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Policy, 2015' that seeks to establish a transparent and accountable government through ICT expansion.
The approval came during a regular weekly meeting of the cabinet held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, reports the Daily Star.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Cabinet Secretary M. Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said the existing ICT Policy was framed back in July 2009.
He said the ICT Division proposed a revision of the policy to make more time-relevant.
Bhuiyan further stated that key stakeholders were consulted before finalization and clearance of the draft proposal.
