The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangladesh on Friday protested against the alleged repeated instances of violation of its airspace by the helicopters belonging to Myanmar.

The ministry has sent a diplomatic note to the Embassy of Myanmar in Dhaka, stating that the Myanmar helicopters have violated Bangladesh's airspace near Ukhia in Cox's Bazar on August 27, 28 and September 1, The Daily Star reported.

A press release of the foreign ministry said, Myanmar helicopters violated Bangladesh's airspace near Ukhia on three occasions.

The Ministry emphasised that these instances of incursion into Bangladesh air space can ruin good neighbourly relations and could lead to unwarranted situation.

Bangladesh has also demanded Myanmar to take immediate measures to prevent recurrence of such incursion in future as this can possibly disturb the existing understanding and cooperation between the two countries.

A large number of Rohingyas have crossed into Bangladesh from Myanmar after Rohingya insurgents attacked police posts and an army base in Rakhine state leading to clashes in the area, said sources in the United Nations.
