The Supreme Court of Bangladesh today fixed September 14 for passing an order on two appeals filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia challenging the appointment of a lower court judge, who framed charges against her in two corruption cases.
On March 19, Judge Basudev Roy of the Special Judge Court-3 on March 19 framed charges against Khaleda and eight others in connection with the Zia Charitable Trust and Zia Orphanage Trust graft cases.
Challenging the legality of Judge Roy's appointment, Khaled filed the two writ petitions with the High Court on May 12, reports the Daily Star.
The High Court on June 19 rejected the writ petitions.
On July 7, Khaleda filed two separate leave to appeal petitions with the Supreme Court against the High Court order.
After holding hearing on the appeals, a five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain today fixed the date for passing an order.
