A delegation from Bangladesh, including the district collector cum magistrates (DCMs) of five regions bordering South Tripura arrived here on Thursday.
The 30-member Bangladeshi team, lead by DCM Feni Humayan Kabir Khanderkar, has travelled to Tripura to attend the India-Bangladesh Joint Border Conference, scheduled to start from January 9 at the state guest house.
The team was officially welcomed at the Akhaura integrated check post by Sepahijal district magistrate Dr Prashant Kumar Goyal.
"We have come to officially receive the Bangladeshi team that came to attend the Indo-Bangladesh Joint Border Conference, to be held between five bordering district of Bangladesh and four of Tripura. This meeting will be very important in improving relations at the grassroot level and issues like smuggling, trans-border crime, narcotics and other important issues will be discussed," Dr Goyal said.
