The murder of Sunil Gomez, a Christian grocer living in the Baraigram upazila of Natore, has been handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) of the Bangladesh Police for further investigation.
According to the Daily Star, Abdul Hye, officer-in-charge of Natore DB police, has been appointed as investigation officer in the case.
Sixty-year-old Sunil Gomez was killed when he was alone in his shop at Bonpara Christian Palli in the upazila. Investigating officers had said the killing bore similarity to previous militant killings.
The global terror outfit Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the killing, according to SITE Intelligence Group that monitors terrorist activities.
