Troubles are pouring in for 'Barbershop
Ronald Dickerson, who is known as JD Lawrence, has claimed that the film rips off his stage play 'Scissors' and has filed legal documents for it, reports News24.com.
Dickerson is demanding 20 million dollars in damages.
The lawsuit also seeks an injunction blocking the release of the film, claiming that the plot, themes, characters and situation bear an overwhelming resemblance to those in the play.
Companies and production houses that have been named in the suit are Time Warner Inc, Warner Brothers Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc and Showtime Networks Inc.
