The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) office in Karachi has been shut down for nine days amid threats received from Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) over a controversial documentary.

BBC staff has been working from their homes since last night, as a result of their office premises being shut down, the Daily Times reports.

According to the report, the threats came after a documentary on MQM chief Altaf Hussain was broadcast by the BBC, which was criticized for being fake and Taliban-sponsored propaganda.

South Karachi DIG Ammer Sheikh visited the BBC Karachi office to look into the matter, the report added.
