Former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the coach of the India 'A' and under-19 cricket teams following the conclusion of the first meeting of Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) advisory committee here on Saturday.
"Rahul Dravid has agreed to coach India 'A' and under-19 teams in future," said BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur told the media after the meeting.
The newly-constituted BCCI's cricket advisory panel comprises of legendary cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman.
Thakur stated that the panel has suggested that the number of India 'A' overseas tours should be increased in order to give more exposure to the players and help them provide a platform to play more competitive cricket.
"As the performance of Indian cricket team overseas was not up to the mark, our focus will be to play more and more games overseas," Thakur said.
"And the best part is all three (of the committee members) agreed that if need be, they can spare some time to help Indian cricketers perform well," he added.
BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmia presided over the meeting.
