The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named former Director General of Police (Rajasthan), Ajit Singh, as the head of its Anti Corruption Unit (ACU) on Saturday.
Shekhawat will replace Neeraj Kumar, the former Police Commissioner of Delhi, in the role. However, Kumar has been retained as Advisor of the ACU till May 31, the BCCI said in an official statement.
Singh will take charge of the office before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on April 7 and will be based out of the BCCI headquarters at Cricket Centre, Mumbai.
"Having served the Indian Police Service for around 36 years, Singh comes with a wealth of experience in anti-corruption operations, investigative work and field policing. Singh also headed the anti-corruption bureau of Rajasthan for four years," the BCCI informed in its statement.
