BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur, who met Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan here on Wednesday, said a lot of issues still need to be resolved to facilitate a cricket series between India and Pakistan.
"Met the President of the Pakistan Cricket Board in Delhi today. We discussed some issues. Dialogue has just started, much needs to be decided upon," said Thakur.
"After the two boards finalize the dates and the venues, we will then go to the Government of India for permission," he added.
PCB chairman Shahryar Khan and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Jagmohan Dalmiya met recently and agreed on a series that will likely schedule three Tests, five one-dayers and two T20 matches in December.
Pakistan High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit recently said in Lucknow that the resumption of cricketing ties between the two nations would improve bilateral ties.
The PCB had earlier last year signed MoUs with the BCCI for six bilateral series to be contested over the next eight years, with Pakistan staging four of them.
The last time the two nations played was in 2012-13 when Pakistan visited India for three one day internationals and two Twenty20 matches.
