Board of Control for Cricket in India honorary secretary Anurag Thakur on Tuesday said he had issued a notice for a Special General Meeting (SGM) to elect the next president of the governing body.

The election is being held as the demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya recently has left the president's post vacant.

He said the scrutiny of applications would be done on October 3 after receiving nominations from various states, and the final list would be published by the evening.

"Anyone who wants to run for the presidential election must have a nomination from one of the members of the East Zone," he said, adding that the election will be held at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on October 4 at 2 p.m.

Coming out of a meeting with members of the Justice Lodha Committee, Thakur said he had held discussions over the functioning of the cricket board and the reforms that could be introduced in the governing body.

He said he would wait for the Lodha Committee report on the reforms.
