England football legend David Beckham has refused to confirm his interest in setting up a Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise in Miami, despite reports claiming that he has chosen the city as his preferred location.
Beckham has an option to become a franchise owner after a clause was inserted into his contract when he joined Californian club Los Angeles Galaxy from Real Madrid as a player in 2007, and reports have suggested that the former Manchester United star is set to invest 25 million dollars in a new team based in Florida.
According to Sport24, although the former England captain admitted that he has considered Miami as a location for a franchise, he refused to confirm it as a final location, saying that he has looked at other places too for setting up his new franchise.
The report mentioned that Miami had one of the original MLS teams, the Fusion, but they folded after four seasons due to disappointing attendances.
Although Beckham would have to pick a coach to manage his team if he becomes a club owner, but he dismissed suggestions that he could turn to his former manager at Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson.
