China's first aircraft carrier, Liaoning, has reportedly left a military port in Qingdao in the Shandong Province in east China for a training and testing mission.

The People's Liberation Army Navy, in a statement, said that the mission would examine the results of tests on the vessel over the last three years, reported Xinhua.

The aircraft carrier has already completed over 100 scientific-research tests, as well as landing and takeoff exercises by J-15 carrier-borne fighters and various types of helicopters.

The mission was a routine arrangement in the carrier's training schedule.
