Veteran England batsman Ian Bell has committed himself to Warwickshire for another three years, thus confirming his stay until the end of the 2020 season.

Reflecting on his contract extension, Bell said Warwickshire is the only county he has ever wanted to play for as it had played a huge role in turning his career.

"Warwickshire is the only county that I've ever wanted to play for. The club has played a huge role in my career and it's a great honour to now captain the team and help our young, talented players fulfill their potential here at Edgbaston," ESPNcricinfo quoted Bell as saying.

The 34-year-old, who made his last appearance for England since their 0-2 series defeat against Pakistan in November 2015, amassed 7,727 runs at an average of 42.69 in 118 Tests he played for the national side.

In first-class cricket, Bell has 18,533 runs to his name with Warwickshire, with whom the England player has been associated since the age of 10.

Bell also made seven Ashes series appearance in the course of his England career, out of which the side had come victorious on five occasions in 2005, 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2015.

As far as domestic cricket is concerned, Bell has won six trophies, including last summer's Royal London One-Day Cup when the Birmingham Bears defeated Surrey in the finals at Lord's.
