Czech tennis ace Tomas Berdych reignited his ATP World Tour Finals campaign with a straight sets win over out-of-sorts US Open champion Marin Cilic in London.
Berdych won their crucial Group A contest 6-3, 6-1, after both men lost their opening matches on Monday. He would next play Djokovic while Croat Cilic faces Wawrinka in Friday's final round-robin matches.
Two heavy defeats mean Cilic is all but out of the tournament, leaving Berdych to try and take one of the semifinal places from Djokovic, The BBC reported.
Berdych said that he was really trying to focus on his tennis and game, trying to go point by point. He added that it was more fighting and getting through against Cilic on Thursday.
Berdych also said that it's not his first year, adding that he has the experience of losing the first match in the past and knows how to come back, and that was the biggest difference on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Cilic claimed that it was of course a little bit of a disappointment to lose the matches like he did, but added that he played against the guys who are at the top of the game.
