BEST drivers and conductors in Mumbai went on a flash strike on Tuesday to protest against the new computerized scheduling system.
Commuters who depend on buses to travel faced a lot of problems.
"In the morning, we have to go to office and there are no taxis available. Even if they are, they have their own rates. This is totally wrong," said Yashwant Patel, a commuter in Mumbai.
"I had no clue about the strike. I have to report to my office at 8, but I have no clue how I am going to reach. This is their daily drama and the public suffers because of all this," said Vikas Achare, another commuter.
The unions are opposed to the 12 to 13-hour work schedule for 20% staffers and want the earlier manual system of scheduling to continue.
They are also opposed to the stringent conditions in the schedule.
