Beyonce honoured Trayvon Martin, who was fatally shot on the night of February 26, 2012, with a moment of silence on her 'Mrs. Carter Show World Tour' stop in Nashville on July 13.

The 17-year-old Florida native was paid homage on the singer's show after a verdict found the accused George Zimmerman, not guilty of second-degree murder and acquitted of manslaughter.

During the tribute, the lights went dark and Beyonce sang the chorus of 'I Will Always Love You', before singing her own song 'Halo', US Magazine reported.

The show started about 30 minutes after the verdict was reached.

The 2012 shooting had sparked a heated debate about racial profiling around the country.

Beyonce's little sister, Solange, organized a peaceful protest in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Sunday, July 14, to fight for justice in Martin's honor.
