Bhubaneshwar plays host to international classical dance festival

Classical dance aficionados thronged the venue of international dance festival, as the three-day programme kicked-off in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The Mukteswar Dance Festival will feature eminent dancers from across the country, performing classical, 'Odissi', dance.

The festival is being organised by the tourism department of the province with an aim to promote arts and culture.

Festival organiser Chitaranjan Mallya said the motive behind this festival is to provide a platform to young, upcoming and talented dancers.

"The main objective of this festival is to promote and to provide platform to Odissi dancers young, upcoming, talented and established. All those who take this dance form to a level of excellence both at state and at national level," said Mallya

The festival featured classical dancers who gave solo, duet, and group performances.

It was a visual treat for audiences who had come from India and abroad to enjoy the dance festival.

A tourist from Russia said she was enthralled by astounding talent of the dancers.

"I like this programme very much. I like the duet and this group composition was also very strong," said Russian tourist, Ellena.

Varied aspects of Odissi dance form are being showcased through beautiful blend of rhythm, movement and music, leaving the audience enthralled with the splendid performances.

The Indian classical dance forms have been gaining popularity not only within India but in other countries as well.
