The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday attempted to downplay the early trends in favour of the grand alliance in Bihar, saying their history is well-known and one must wait for the final results before making any contemplation.

"We should wait for the final results. The political trend of the country is very clear. All political parties are against the Bharatiya Janata Party but we are dedicated towards the development of the country," BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi told ANI.

"As far as the Mahagathbandhan is concerned, we have witnessed such alliances in the Indian history. And the Janata Parivaar has seen it in the last 30 years that the coming of such alliances is impressive, but their end is extremely bad," he added.

Counting of votes for the five-phased Bihar Assembly election is in progress amidst tight security.

The early trends available so far show that the grand alliance is ahead in 147 seats followed by the BJP-led NDA at 84 seats.

CCTV cameras have been installed at all counting centres. E-counting software are also being used to record real time compilation of round-wise data. Observers have been deployed for each constituency.

The Election Commission has imposed a ban on victory processions to maintain law and order situation. Electoral fortune of 3,450 candidates will be decided today.
