Expressing dissatisfaction with the inquiry ordered by Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manji into the stampede at Patna's Gandhi Maidan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said the Bihar Government should take up the responsibility for the incident.
"It is the responsibility of the government to care for the people. Just saying that we have ordered an inquiry is not enough, the Bihar Government should take the responsibility," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told ANI.

"When there is a rally of the Janata Dal (United) in Gandhi Maidan, the police are deployed in good numbers. So, during a festival like Dussehra when the number of people coming to the ground are much more than the number of people attending the JD (U)'s rally, how many policemen were deployed?" he asked.
At least 33 persons were killed and several others got injured following a stampede at Patna's Gandhi Maidan on Friday. The stampede took place when people were returning from the Dussehra celebrations.
