One person was killed while another was injured after a parcel, which was sent to the residence of Abhay Kushwaha, a Janata Dal-United (JDU) leader, exploded in Bihar's Gaya District on Tuesday.
The incident occurred this morning and claimed the life of Kushwaha's domestic help Santosh. Kushwaha was not at home at that time.
"The incident occurred around 7-7.15 a.m., when the domestic help of the minister spotted the parcel. He saw wires and by the time he brought the parcel out, it exploded," said a neighbour.
Kushwaha is the district chief of the Gaya unit of the JD (U).
Another JD (U) leader Bijay Kumar Choudhary said Kushwaha's brother-in-law Jai Hind Kumar was also injured in the incident.
"We would get an investigation done on it. And, I think, this kind of incident has occurred in Bihar for first time. Police should take up the matter seriously," said Choudhary in Patna.
The police have launched an investigation.
